Asian Music Radio hosts to wax for charity

Asian Music Radio is hosting a waxing event to raise funds for the Secret Angels charity.

Hosts Khalid Akhtar and Shabaz Ahmad undergo full body waxing proportional to the amount collected.

The event will take place on May 6, 2022, at the station itself. Listeners and fans are invited to attend the event starting at 12 p.m. to catch this hilarious show.

Director and presenter of Asian Music Radio, Khalid says:

“I don’t inflict so much pain on myself unless the charity gets a significant sum out of it.

“Therefore, I have decided that if I reach my goal of £1000, in donations, by May 6, I will become leg hair free.

“Shabaz will offer his arms and you never know he can go bald from the neck down (yes, that says it all).”

Donations will go to secret angels. This is a small non-profit charity that works in some of Wolverhampton’s most deprived communities.

They aim to reach and transform the lives of some of the most socially excluded individuals/families to improve communities.

Alvina Ali, volunteer and organizer of Secret Angels expressed her joy at this event:

“I look forward to this fundraiser.

“A painful challenge for a worthy cause which will hopefully raise lots of money for our charity which will make a difference in people’s lives.

“That’s why we have formed a lifetime partnership with Asian Music Radio…

“…their sponsorship and listener donations are integral to our ability to serve our community and improve the quality of life for all.”

So, to help such an honorable foundation, Khalid has set goals and what body parts he and Shabaz will get if those goals are achieved:

  • £5,000 – a full body wax on Khalid and Shabaz.
  • £2500 – legs, arms and back.
  • £1500 – legs and arms.
  • £800 – legs and one arm.
  • £500 – legs OR arms.
  • £200 – one leg OR one arm.

However, Khalid has bravely mentioned that if the total amount donated is £5,750 or more, he will also shave his head.

The event will be recorded and posted on social media to highlight the importance of this fundraiser. But also to comically document the pain of the hosts.

Asian Music Radio is a 24/7 station broadcasting Desi hits from the 70s to modern pop tunes.

They interact with listeners and hope to bring back the power and significance of South Asian music. However, this event also shines a light on the platform’s charitable efforts.

Co-host, Shabaz Ahmad revealed:

“Please help us raise as much as you can for this great cause.

“My arm hair means the world to me but we’re happy to trade our pain for your pounds!”

Additionally, the event is sponsored by Taylor Biddle Opticians, Indus Foods and Compton Dry Cleaners.

Many people will surely tune in to see the screams and bellows of Khalid and Shabaz. But all for a tremendous act of service to the community.
